Booster Pump Control Valve is designed for installation on booster pump's discharge side to prevent starting and stopping pressure surges in the pipeline while the pump starts and stops.
If power failure occurs, the valve immediately closes preventing return flow, regardless of control mode.

Typical Applications

Sequence Of Operation

Pump Off

With pump off, static line pressure is transmitted through strainer "F"→shuttle Valve "B"→solenoid valve 1→speed control "D"→the chamber above the diaphragm, thus holding the valve closed.
If power failure occurs, the valve closes immediately to prevent reverse flow, regardless of control mode.

Starting Cycle

Starting switch closes, pump starts, solenoid control valve 1 energizes and shifts allowing fluid from upper diaphragm chamber to drain to atmosphere.
High pressure fluid from pump enters strainer "A"→shuttle valve "B"→solenoid valve 2→speed control valve "C"→High pressure fluid is transmitted to the lower diaphragm chamber and opens the valve slowly.

Stopping Cycle

Starting switch opens, solenoid control 2 de-energizes and shifts, pump continues to run. High Pressure fluid from the pump is directed above the diaphragm, applying force to close the valve. The valve closes slowly as fluid from the lower diaphragm chamber is gradually released to atmosphere through speed control "C" and solenoid valve 2. When the valve closes fully, the limit switch "E " shuts off the pump by electrical signal.

Installation

  • Before installation, flush to clean pipeline.
  • Provide adequate clearance for servicing.
  • Arrow on valve body must match actual flow direction in pipe.
  • Preferred valve installation, - upright, for horizontal position; others acceptable.
  • Install isolation valves on both sides of control valve.
